DTT - The “Everywhere TV”
Thanks to DTT, terrestrial TV broadcasting is becoming increasingly attractive for both viewers and broadcasters. Over 90% of the population can now receive up to 33 stations free of charge. Viewers particularly appreciate its ease of use and dependability.
DTT not only provides the major transmitter chains the opportunity to reach viewers with terrestrial broadcasting, but also the smaller broadcasters. After all, DTT is currently used by 11.3% of all households with a television set; 9.9% even use it on their main television set. In larger urban areas more than 20% of viewers receive terrestrial television. As well as offering a wide variety of channels and high level of picture and sound quality, DTT is both easy to install and to use. 24 million DTT receivers have been sold to date (end of 2009), a large proportion of which are portable and mobile devices.
MEDIA BROADCAST – the professional full-service provider
Our core competence is broadcasting programmes from the studio to the viewers. Our customers benefit from the professional advice we offer during the preparation stage, particularly in technical planning and implementation. This includes the supply and distribution of programmes, play-out and archiving solutions, multiplexing and, in particular, network design with optimised, technical coverage. And, of course, we operate the technical infrastructure with a 24/7 service. This makes MEDIA BROADCAST Germany’s leading DTT operator and a sought-after partner for national and international broadcasting organisations.
The DTT success story in Germany
Since the beginning of digital television in Berlin in 2003, MEDIA BROADCAST has gradually been extending the availability of DTT for its customers. The timely planning and implementation of over 300 transmitters are proof of the high level of quality and dependability naturally expected by broadcasters.
Despite the fact that more than 90% of the German population can already receive DTT, MEDIA BROADCAST is continually expanding the DTT network. In response to customer requirements we draw on our experience of technical resources, free capacity and issues relating to media law, to design tailor-made solutions.
A future for terrestrial television
DVB-T2 represents the second generation of terrestrial television and the new standard will result in further improvement in picture quality, as well as more programmes. MEDIA BROADCAST plays an important role in the development of new system at many different levels.
