2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™
The FIFA World Cup™ project was an enormous task: The customer, HBS (Host Broadcast Services) expected MEDIA BROADCAST to provide a modern broadcast network with all 12 world cup venues connected to the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) in Munich. The broadcasting capabilities also had to include the ability to distribute the TV signals worldwide across fibre optic networks and via satellites. In order to provide reliable support for new media formats, MEDIA BROADCAST also provided necessary broadcast and server capacities for new media applications such as mobile TV and IPTV. The benefits to customers: redundant systems translating to maximum protection against outages; flexible tailoring of broadcast capacity for multilateral and unilateral signals to specific requirements; outstanding service for broadcasters as the result of the close cooperation in booking and setup.
